How does BENETool integrate with my existing systems?

BENETool connects through MQTT or API — whichever your existing HVAC and BMS infrastructure already supports. You define the relevant data paths and fields, so there's no need to replace hardware or lock into a single vendor.

How does the optimization algorithm work?

BENETool uses an explainable ML model that learns your building's specific patterns — occupancy, thermal response, energy use — before making optimization decisions. New sites go through a short data-gathering period first, so the system has enough real data to optimize accurately before full onboarding is complete.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All incoming data is validated and aggregated at the API layer with GDPR-aligned, privacy-preserving handling. Access is strictly per-user — no cross-user data exposure — and device credentials are rotated only by the user.

What's included in the base subscription vs. the premium add-ons?

The base BENETool platform covers BMS interoperability, MQTT/API integration, credential security, and identity and access control. Premium add-ons — portfolio-level analytics, flexibility forecasting & DR readiness, blockchain-based data integrity, and automated ESG reporting — are available on top for teams that need them.

How long does onboarding take?

Onboarding follows a four-step path: we learn about your space, connect your existing systems, build your building's digital twin, and then start optimizing. Timelines vary by site complexity, but most of the process is the initial data-gathering period described above — not manual setup work on your end.

What if I already have sensors installed?

That's fine — BENETool is designed to work with what you already have. Whether your existing sensors speak a smart-home protocol or a building-management-system (BMS) protocol, BENETool handles the translation between them, so previously separate smart-home and BMS environments can be connected and read from a single platform instead of staying siloed.
